The 4.0 marble are beautiful. The 4.1 prisms are beautiful. The finish on the prisms if fantastic. Going to grab a bite then hook them up. They came dhl - that's why I couldn't find any tracking info on ups or tnt. (duh) |

Mar 6, 2001 7:02 PM | | Welll, they all work! I have been reading about how nasty they are supposed to sound out of the box. My first impression is that they already beat the hell out of my old Bose 301s :). I would be satisfied if they never sounded any better. Only one very minor problem - one of binding posts is missing the nut - maybe it's in the box I'll check tomorrow. (Think I'll be staying home. I feel a case of the nOrh flu coming on :)) One interesting thing - the lighting in my living room is not very bright and in that light the marble looks great. But, I was using a flashlight to see how to hook up the speaker wires to the receiver and I accidently shined it on the speaker at very close range - guess what - I saw something similar to the photos that the castle guy posted the other day - a kind of greyish color with lots of spots. ??? I wasn't really sure if I was going to like the looks of the 4.1 prisms. In fact I don't like the looks - I love them. Very cool looking and the finish is unbelievable. One question - how do I tell which is the shielded 4.0? Well, I'm going to kick back now and listen to my favorite new album - Keb Mo "The Door". As for the shielded speakers, look inside the tail. If you see a steel can over the magnet, it is shielded. |

WOW I really don't know how to describe it - the sound is just so beautiful. I can actually hear different instruments and voices in different locations - I'm guessing that's what you guys have been referring to as a "sound stage" :). I'm having trouble believing that these piggies are going to get a lot better with beaking in!!
I can't bring myself to not go to work tomorrow morning -I supervise a Math Learning Center at a community college and if I don't show up it will not open until late and some student might not get the help needed to pass that test at 10:00 tomorrow. What can I say - I'm dedicated. But I will bug out early when some of the Faculty show up to take over. When I get home I'll hook up the 4.1s and try to give DueN a report.
