Velodyne HGS-12 vs HGS-15agro1
Mar 6, 2001 6:49 PM
I am considering swapping my two HGS-12's for two HGS-15's. Has anyone had experience with these two subs ? Is there a considerable and discernable difference between the two ? I know the 15 has the same amp (all HGS' do), but it has a larger magnent. Any help would be appreciated....

I would highly recommend the trade up. The HGS-15 is just about the best subwoofer money can buy. The HGS-18 can be boomy, and the HSG-12, can lack punch at times. the HGS-15 will even go down till 12hz, which is amazing. The 3000w amp is made with the 15in in mind. The 12in is too small, and can't handle the watts, but the 15, can handle the watts. That sub sounds fantastic, there is nothing that can compare within a +-$2000 range of that baby. If you want fun, that's where its at!

I owned the hgs 15" breifly and found it very boomy with music which turned me off,It was a hometheater monster though.I would have liked to try a 12" but have never had the chance. Recently I ran across an incredable sub from Genesis "928" which is a dual metal cone 12 servo design. This baby *will* be my next sub without question and for the 1500 list I feel its completely unbeatable. This is without a doubt the most musical sub I ever auditioned with incredable power in reserve, try to audition one if you can. Keep in mind the guys from genesis invented the servo and the rest of their line speaks for itself.

regards
