my paradigm 100s are messing up my tv pictureeric

I have posted this on the home theater board. One guy said to move the speakers away the tv. is probable a tube tv, but my paradigm 60 did not ever do this. Another person said the speakers may be messed up and not shielded properly. What should I do. Thanks

Eric,

Use 2 sheets of Mu metal in between the speaker and the TV; Try to make it aesthetically pleasing by concealing it as best you can; Your speaker house should know where to get this and may have some lying around in the back that you can try.

Also try to move the speakers away in 2 inch increments until the effect decreases; Maybe bring them back and test them in the store; Some TVs compensate for this interference by sensing the surrounding E & M Fields, mostly in the pricier large screen projectors w/ dynamic convergence/compensation control;

My previous reply was lost...

Hope that helps,

Peter

So did you move'em away from the TV ?? If you did and the distortion is still there, try pushing the "Degausse" button on the TV, if it still doesn't work it's probably toast. Why do you have the 100's so close to the TV anyway, they need to be about 6ft apart for good stereo sound.

The Studio 100's have some serious magnets in'em and if you have a tube TV they will "push" the picture, thus, distorting it. I don't believe the Studio 60, 80 and 100's are magnetically shielded as they are ment to be used as front speakers, not centers. The center Studio model is the CC and has a sticker on the back that says "Magna-Shield" or something like that. Your speakers should be fine, but the TV may be history. Just pull the speakers about two or three feet from the TV, if it is still messed up it may be damaged and you'll have to get it serviced (if it can even be repaired). Hope it isn't a good TV....Take care.
