What do you want, bookshelf or floorstander? You should compare the 805s to the CDM 1NT and the CDM 7 to the 804 or 803s. I listened to the 805s and liked the sound, but went with ACI Sapphires, as I hear they are comparable, and even better, for 800 bucks less. I also ab'sd the 805 and cdm1nt, and thought the 805 was better....but not sure if it was worth extra 800 + $600 stands

why don't you ask a few more specific questions, and we can help.

thanks,

keithr

I auditioned these two speakers and went with the 805's. I use mine primarily for home theater and have a sub to pick up the bass. Also, when auditioning music, I could hear no difference with rock n' roll, but I heard a definite difference with jazz and vocal music. The 805's seemed clearer and crisper, IMHO. I thought the depth of the 805's was a tad bit better than the 7NT's. Although I would never have picked it out if it wasn't pointed out. Good salesman, huh?

The previous person makes a good point about stands. The B&W matching stands are ridiculously expensive, $600. I made my own stands that cost about $30. There are other places to buy stands online. You can search for them online. Also, If you want to upgrade for the future, like I will do, I will eventually use my 805's as surrounds and upgrade to 802's for my mains.

Just my $0.02.

My input on the NT's..........BK

first off, I've never heard the 805's, I didn't want to, not after giving a good listen to the 1NT's.

What struck me most about the 1NT's was how lifelike and stunningly real the vocals are. The CDM's come as close to perfection as any speaker I've heard. Nothing ever gets lost, or drowned out. As a song becomes more complex, I'm still able to focus on the original sounds, and keep them in the exact same place throughout, yet continue to hear every other piece of the band, clear as daylight. I am totally ecstatic with these speakers, and I'm currently running them with a receiver, Denon 4800, and I will be purchasing a separate amp soon. So it's only going to get better.

I'm sure the 805's are a better sounding speaker, but for the extra $$$, they should be, but once I heard the CDM's, I felt they were everything I was looking for, and more. So there was no need for me to look any further, besides there is no way my wife would have let me go and spend the extra $$$ on the 805's. :)

I love the NT's, and have everything I could ever want from a speaker.

Good luck in your quest........

Well folks, I'm looking to upgrade my B&W 603S2s. I wanted to wait for the new B&W line but they come in below the CMT line I believe. The trick is to get to a dealer that carries Nautilus line, CMT line and the new line where you can test drive!!
