| Norh 5.1 vs.marble 4.0 | wALLY Mar 8, 2001 11:02 AM | | I have a rather small room which I plan to set up a stereo only system. I've read many statements about the Norh speakers. I am considering either the 5.1 or marble 4.0. Which sounds better for a stereo system. I understand that the 5.1 only comes in wood. Would this make a big difference. The size of the room is 11 x 9.
Thanks |

They are just cleaner & more detailed sounding, while still managing to sound rich and non-bright. If you can afford a small sub (8inch woofer is all you need), then the marble/ceramic 4.0 is absolutely the way to go. If you cannot afford a sub, rather than spring $700 for the marble 4.0, take a look at the forthcoming ceramic 6.1, which will have the advantages of the ceramic enclosures, but a much better bass response than the 4.0 (ie, you probably will not need a sub at all for it). |
| Ceramic 6.1! | Marbles Mar 8, 2001 12:32 PM | | is that horn shaped, or Prism shaped? Actually I would be very interested in the 6.9 in a prism shape made from ceramic and covered in veneer, or made in synthetic marble. |
| Ceramic 6.1! | Tyson Mar 8, 2001 1:07 PM | | Yeah, the 6.1 is coming out in a ceramic drum format, 90db efficiency and 48hz extension. I also heard that the synthetic marble 6.9 is getting close to completion (38hz bass extension). I think the synthetic marble will be available in jade green and piano black, should be very cool. Not sure if other colors will be offered though. |
| Thanks for the info.. | Marbles Mar 8, 2001 1:16 PM | | If you hear of them making the Prisms in ceramic or marble, please let me know. |
| Ceramic 6.1! | mbarnes Mar 8, 2001 11:57 PM | | The ceramic 6.1s are still a challange. The size is large and very difficult. Synthetic marble is coming along very well. We have produced some sample cabinets but none complete. The ceramic material is lighter than the synthetic marble. The look is very different between the two. I would like to make the Prism design out of synthetic marble but that will take a while. I see no way to do it out of ceramic. |
| Synthetic Marble Prism's would be veeeery nice! | Marbles Mar 9, 2001 4:59 AM | | Thanks for the response.

| I would be the first to order the syn-marble Prism 6.9. :-) nt | DueN Mar 9, 2001 6:38 AM | | . |
| The best for me would be.. | Marbles Mar 9, 2001 7:33 AM | | The synthetic marble Prism shape with the Scan-Speak Revelator 9900 tweeter, and the Revelator woofer. Don't know how big it would have to be though, but it would sound great. I don't think nOrh has any plans to use Scan-speak in the Prism shape :-( any time soon. |
| Ceramic 6.1! | Alex - the good one. Mar 9, 2001 9:04 AM | | What kind of sonic differences do you expect, between the real marbles, ceramic, and syn-marble? How about natural jade? I believe Thailand has plenty of those too. Not jewry grade, pure translucent jade-green, vainless kind, of course. Alex - the good one. |
