| is there a formula for placing speakers in a room | eric Mar 8, 2001 11:48 AM | | I have paradigm studio 100 in a pretty small room. I have heard that there is a formula to placing speakers. |
| Eric, want me to come over and set'em up for ya???? | agro1 Mar 8, 2001 12:53 PM | | My suggestion is this, put em up front. Do yo have walls ? If so place those monsters as far left and right as they will go, but equidistant from the center point of the room, which would be the optimum listener position. They should also be "toed" in. Meaning, they should be turned just a bit so that they point directly at the middle of the room where you would sit when listening. Keep'em about 6-8 inches away from the wall behind them. That should do it. By the way, what amp are you running them off of ? Mine didn't sound any good until I got a seperate amp rated at 200 watts/ per channel. the Studio 100's are not the easiest speakers to drive. If you don't listen to'em very loud you should be fine with around 100 watts minimum, if you like it loud like I do - When pushed hard the 100's dip down to 4ohms, so make sure your amp is stable at 4ohms otherwise you'll damage the drivers, I did...Short story, you've got some sweet speakers that need good, clean power to really sing. I'd suggest picking up Anthem's MCA-2 seperate amp to power'em. Hope this helps!! |
| Eric, want me to come over and set'em up for ya???? | eric Mar 9, 2001 6:52 AM | | agro I am powering them with the yamaha 2095, but I will upgrade to an amp when I have more money(sometime this summer). I love to liston loud so what steps should I take not to hurt the speakers. also I am not getting great bass out of them, do you think that this is because the lack of power I am feeding them. Thanks for all the help. By the way I did move them away from the television and the picture is fixed and the sound is better. |
