| Velodyne CT120 $489 or Def Tech Prosub200 $500....... | Mike in PA Mar 9, 2001 5:32 AM | | I know there are plenty of other subs out there, but I have narrowed my list to these two, I am going to buy today and my local guy has both so let me have your opinions on these two....Thanks |
| Between the two | Bryan Mar 9, 2001 6:20 AM | | I'd go with the Velo. Then again, I'd also be tempted to throw the HSU VTF-2 and ACI Quake into the mix. |
| I must agree w/Bob | agro1 Mar 9, 2001 9:18 AM | | You will thank yourself to spend the extra $$ on the PF-15tl+, it is quite a big unit but will perform much better than the other two mentioned. I used to have it, but sold it because I didn't like the fact that it is a ported sub, just my personal taste though... |
| Absolutely!!!!!!........ | BK Mar 10, 2001 2:36 AM | | I got both of my PF15TL+'s for 549 each, that's what the 200 retails for.
Get that PF15TL+, even if it costs you a few more dollars. Nothing in that price range touches it imho! |
| re: Velodyne CT120 $489 or Def Tech Prosub200 $500....... | unleasHell Mar 9, 2001 10:07 AM | | I compared the CT120 to the Velodyne LFE1012, and the 1012 sounded so much better, check out the web site, It sells for $549, just a little more than what you are looking at. Don't buy from the local guy just cause that's all he has........ |
| re: Velodyne CT120 $489 or Def Tech Prosub200 $500....... | Kyle Mar 9, 2001 10:10 AM | | I would have to say to go with the Velo! The PF15TL can be very boomy at times, and you can hear air whistling through its rear firing ports:( Also, that sub has so many rattles, all Def Tech Subs have SERIOUS rattles. Just after one or two movies you will start hearing the rattles, which become very irritating, since they appear at all listening volumes. The Velo will give you VOLUME, at low frequencies-under 25hz. It is also much more accurate than both those Def Tech subs. But if you want rumble and fun in music and home theater, go with the Velo. If you want loud and distorted with low quality and reliability, go with the Def Tech. It is very hard to go wrong with the Velo, even in huge rooms. |
| re: Bob is right again ! | rayG Mar 9, 2001 2:06 PM | | I've had my Def Tech sub for 3 or 4 years and I've never heard any rattles. |
| Yeah, I'm also with Bob........... | BK Mar 10, 2001 2:42 AM | | I don't think Kyle's response is very accurate, ofcourse I'm biased because I own 2 of the Definitive subs, but I think it's a fact that the PF15TL+ is one of the better buys in audio!
I have them paired with B&W's CDM series, and the fact that a 500 dollar 15 inch sub can do justice with these incredible speakers with music, speaks volumes about them! |
| Hey Kyle, maybe that rattling you heard was your windows. ;) | BK Mar 10, 2001 2:45 AM | | |
