Apr 21, 2001 6:37 PM | | I'll be getting a Yamaha P80 digital piano soon, but it doesn't have speakers, so I'll have to be getting some. I was looking at the Genelec 1029A, til I saw the price. Now I'm looking at the Yamaha MSP5. I would highly prefer something that was amped. Suggestions? |

You kind of _have_ to have powered, otherwise it's like connecting your preamp directly to your speakers, no?
These should be on your short list, to hear, visit your local music shop, like Guitar Center (my personal favorite, their in-store prices beat online shopping!):
Tannoy (Reveal)
Fostex (I think there's only one)
Alesis M1, I think they have others in your price range
KRK ... uh, V6? I have the V8...if it's too expensive, I think there's something smaller...
NHT...M00?
Behringer Truth
Event has a nice sub-n-2-sats system
These are all meant for nearfield listening, hope that's what you were planning.
If you have a mono out, you might consider getting just one really good monitor for now. I think I paid less than US$1K for my (two) Mackie's, but that was with a _lot_ of finagling (?sp). Go to www.zzounds.com, and search on "monitor". |

And I've been looking at the speakers at zzounds, and I'm trying to find reviews for them, since I live in 'Hick Village', there are no music stores for me to listen to speakers. And I am going to be doing nearfield listening. I'll look at the speakers you talked about, thanks. |
