Dunlavy Drivers?Kingdaddy

Anyone know what kind of drivers that Dunlavy uses in there bookshelf speakers like the SM1, SCI-AV and SCIII, I'm trying to gather enough information to do a DIY version of one of these speakers, and hoping that the 1st order crossover network will be fairly simple.

I went to the factory to listen to some hard to find speakers of his. He met me there and personally showed me the factory and went into depth with the design of his speakers.

The drivers are custom ones. He tried many, many different drivers from all the big manufacturers. NONE of them were good. Even the most expensive had transient problems. Not only did he want a smooth frequency response, low distortion, and wide dynamic range, but he wanted a well damped response. He had to go back and forth with the manufacturers with different compounds to get it just right. The drivers he uses are custom, not available to the public. That's how he gets the excellent impulse response out of his speakers.

And you can forget about those simple single pole crossover networks. First of all they contain many zobel circuits to smooth out the impedence. Secondly, they are custom tuned to each speaker to tweak the frequency response. My Dunlavy Millenniums are +/- 1dB from 20Hz to 20KHz and match each other to withen +/- 0.5dB. These networks are quite complicated and custom tuned for each driver in each speaker.

I was afraid they were proprietary drivers, I've E-Mailed Mr. Dunlavy and asked if he would sell me these drivers or offer a DIY version of the mentioned speakers, but in light of the trouble he went through I suppose I'm asking too much, oh well back to the drawing board.

Thanks for the info.
