I haven't heard them, but I'd be willing to bet that they'd likely be the best sounding speaker for under $500.

I have not heard anything that even comes close to the high density ceramic 4.0 in this price range. Easily hangs w/ speakers over $1k if a sub is going to be used in they system.

Any word yet on the Prism 3.0s? Wonder when they will ship.

I just sent an email to Namphung about the status of my prism 3.0 order (I think I was the first person to order one). She said they are still tweaking the cabinet. No official word on when it will be done. My personal estimation is probably another month or so, but don't quote me on that.
ThanksBryan

And your guess is probably very accurate. Looks like late May, early June for the Prism 3.0s and, if the pattern holds true, probably August for the Le Amps.

Try the NHT SuperOnes (boofshelf-$350 list) or the NHT SuperTwos (floorstanding) that are on sale at Crutchfeild.com for $499. I have the SuperOnes and their bass is very tight and clean, it wont roll you over though as it drops off below 60Hz. The NHT SuperTwos go down to 35Hz-very tight & clean-accurate and not overbearing. These are definately worth a listen. They sound much more expensive than they are (IMO).

In my opinion, the CBM-170's from Ascend Acoustics are by far the best musical bookshelf speaker under $500. I haven't heard the norh 4.0 but I have heard most everything else at this price point.

The nOrh 4.0s are fantastic. Since you do not really care about low bass, they will work for you just fine. Other possibilities include:

ACI Opal (do it yourself kit can be had for $369 - crossovers assembled)
Swan Diva 2.1 - $399
AR (Audio Review) DIY kit
B&W DM302
Paradigm Monitor 3 v2
Def Tech DR 7
Infinity IL10

Hopefully that will give you a place to start.

Well, just to name a few that worth trying, Triangle Titus, Mission 780, B&W 600 series or CDM, Soliloquy sat-5, Tannoy mX series , Magnepan MMG and the list can go on.

magnepan MMG is audio best kept secret. You may like them and fall in love in planar sound.

Good luck.

How about Monitor Audio Bronze 2 (bookshelf) and 3 (floor-standing)?
I think they are British speakers' best kept secret. Both are well below $500.

If you have the room space and good clean power, the magnepan mmg is the best $500 speaker.
