nOrh attack relapse.puay chew
Jun 3, 2001 2:57 AM
I have just finished listening to the drum and percussions from the album “Groovy Womann” by Angela Berann and the guitar piece from “No Strings attached” by Govi. The nOrh attack relapsed.

I remember that MBarnes played the 9.0 marble very loud at 12 o’clock on the ACA. The 9.0 did not sound distorted at all. My Primare L20 is shit. It is a 2½ way speaker.

I realized that there was hardly any information coming from the 2nd woofer. Most of the sounds come from the 1st woofer. The Stratos has reveal both it’s strengths and weaknesses. When I turn the volume to 12 o’clock, the sound got so distorted that everything is out of place. Crowded passage becomes very muddy and lost its focus. There is no imaging at all. The speaker also does not play as loud at 12o’clock as compare to the 9.0. However when I lower the volume, imaging and sound stage return. Certain tracks have a very 3D effect. Sound stage width is very good. I can hear bells ringing from the far left of the listening position. On the other hand, the height is not as good. When I stand up, I can hear that the height was only around my *waist.* Some times I found that I need to sit on the floor to feel the soundstage height. Having said that, the 9.0 is almost 3.5 times the price of the L20. The SM6.9 is around the same price of my current speaker.

I believe that the Stratos has already squeezed the last juice out of this speaker. I believe that the distortions came from the cabinet resonance. I knock at the cabinet and it has this very loud “tock” sound. When I play it at mid to high volume, I can feel the vibrations on the side.

I can only remember the stunning bass of the SM6.9. I have NEVER heard such base from a two way before. It was awesome. I still can’t forget the bass that I have heard form the SM6.9 and the Marble 9.0. I can’t remember the mid and high though.

My SM6.9 will come in 3 weeks time…can’t wait……arhhhhhh……

I waited 6 weeks for my marble 9.0's to arrive. Although it was ALMOST 2 weeks (they ran out of the batch of marble right before mine so I was 1st on the cue for a long time). A credit card limit fiasco was responsible for the 6th week as opposed to 5. The price and the sound were still well worth it, but man was I ticked during that time.. headphones helped tide me over a bit.

On the other hand my roommate ordered ceramic 4.0's that they had in stock (green) and had them delivered within a week of ordering. Lucky bum! :)

I think I'm among the first to order the SM6.9 :-) nOrh spend quite some time working on the stainless steel grill but they find that it is too costly and they will not be able to sell for $995. The grill will be of wood and cloth like the other nOrh. :-(

I was told that they are picking up some ceramics today (Sunday)so for those who have ordered should get them soon.

Same here. nOrh green 4.0 , delivered in one week of ordering. For all interested, the green is a very dark color. If your familiar with British Racing Green, I think that is a good description.
Screw off you nOrh fags!Another anti nOrh

I'm sure its well founded. But what specifically makes them "lousy" ? Are the Vifa/Scanspeak drivers crap ? Nobody else thinks so. Or do the cabinets ruin the sound produced by the drivers ? Then your point would be that vibrating boxes with parallel resonating internal surfaces are required to get good sound. Or are the crossovers poorly designed or use cheap components ? I don't think so. Or are they simply overpriced for what they are ? I can't find anything anywhere besides DIY with equivlent drivers for less (usually 2x more). Which is it ? CAUSE THERE ISN'T ANYTHING ELSE.

Just stating "the are bad" simply makes you look like an ass.

Just admitting you like them makes you a stupid a-hole.. So suddenly looking like an ass is not so bad.

posted to see if there were others who felt the same.

I was trying to ignore you but you don't seem to go away. May I ask you what is such a forum for and why are you here?

Instead of making a fool of yourself, why don't you share with all of us your experience(if you have any)?

It is SO MUCH FUN to goad them. Just one little insinuation and I can just see them slobbering all over their keyboard. Probably some of you don't have the same sense of humor I do, so I apologize to you. For the rest that do find some humor in it, hell, it is better than watching a bunch of trained monkeys in a circus. . . .
