| Will my new speakers be alright with my stereo? | Eddie Jun 3, 2001 8:30 AM | | I plan on getting a pair of Boston Acoustic VR 970s and was wondering if I will need a better amp for them. Right now I have an old Magnavox one piece unit an it says 8 ohms for the speakers. Will that work out OK? And where can I get more techcnical info on the BAs? Sorry for the lack of info, I am not too familiar with the tech side of it. Thanks. |

Now if you mean "1 piece unit" as in an old shelf system, like radio/cd/tape deck, you will probably want more power, but somewhere on the unit or in its manual will tell you how much power it puts out, such as 50 Watts/channel. Rough estimate you will want 75-100 Watts or more for each speakers, especially when you consider the powered subwoofer in each speaker has 100W. You can find tech specs on their website (www.bostonacoustics.com) for the VR975s which are the newer version and similar to yours. Good luck |
