looking at used speakers...thepogue

i been just poopin' round looking at some used Paradigms (maybe to use for rears for HT at some point) and i noticed something strange. The best deals seemed to be on the 100's (the lowest price I saw on a v1 was $800.00!) but for the most part can be had for about %50 - %60 of retail. On the other hand the 20/40/60 seemed to be gettting closer to %70 - %85. Just a fluke? Or is that normal to get a better discount (for a lack of a better term) on higher priced speakers? What the word on the street? With that said would 4 100's be a problem in a HT set up? Ok boyz...teach me!!!

I dunnow, maybe there is just a thinner market of buyers for higher priced stuff. Or maybe the purchasers of higher priced stuff just tend to buy new since they have the scratch.
Let's see now, 4 x 100 =bone

excellent HT, my man. You'll pay a premium for a 5 channel amp with enough juice to run 'em though. As you know, a receiver simply won't do those beasts justice, in music or in HT. Plus, you'll have the delicate problem of whether or not to set them to large or small. Plus the space and positioning issues. All and all, five equal monitors with a sub is easier, IMO.

Good luck poguester
