Car speaker problemBrynlee

I have a 1998 dodge ram pickup. I have a pair of infinity 640is, that I have had for some time and used in a couple of vehicles over the years. When I installed the first speaker in the drivers door it seemed to work fine, but after I mounted it in the door it quit working. So I took it back out and noticed that the wire terminals were touching causing it not to work. But after fixing this problem the speaker is now hardly audible with the stereo turned way up. With it turned down you cant hear it at all. I tried switching the wires and no difference. Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

You may have killed your amp. When you short the wires like that, you represent a 0 ohm load to the amp usually killing it if it is drawing a lot of current at the time (high volume). Try the other speakers and the broken speaker with a different channel. But most likely you fried your amp.
