| Paradigm Studio 60 vs. Vienna Acoustics Bach | BillB Jun 4, 2001 6:03 PM | | Hey everyone! Need some input here. I haven't auditioned the Bachs yet but I will be soon. I have set a budget of $1000 for a pair of speakers for my two channel system which contains and NAD C370 Integrated Amp and NAD C521 CD player. I've listened to the Paradigms, a pair of B&W (604's???)and have lived with NHT SuperTwos for over a year. I absolutely love the NHT's but they're being moved to the HT system. I would consider buying another pair of them for the two-channel system but I'd like to have something different in the house. My listening tastes comprise of mostly rock and roll with bits of jazz and classical thrown in. I liked the way the Paradigms handled the rock music I threw at them, much more than the B&Ws. The kicker is, thanks to my new job, I can get the Vienna Acoustics, which normally retail for $1500, for about $750. The Paradigms cost another $250 at the local dealer.
As I've said, I haven't even listened to the Bachs yet so this question may be premature. If anyone's had any listening experience and can give me a sort of comparison I'd appreciate it.
Thanks in advance,

| Get the best speaker not the best deal. | KLM Jun 4, 2001 6:44 PM | | Bill,
If I were you, I'd get the speakers that you enjoy the most irregardless of "the best deal." If the Paradigms are within your budget and you like them more than the anything else (for your intended use) you'll be happier with them than getting a "really good deal" on something that isn't quite what you want. I was thinking about getting the Paradigm Mini Monitors, but I recently decided to save up for the Studio 20s instead.
Best of luck,

| irregardless,,,,why do people use that word?? (nt) | jsujo Jun 5, 2001 1:19 PM | | nt |
| You're right... | KLM Jun 5, 2001 1:52 PM | | nonstandard : REGARDLESS usage: Irregardless originated in dialectal American speech in the early 20th century. Its fairly widespread use in speech called it to the attention of usage commentators as early as 1927. The most frequently repeated remark about it is that "there is no such word." There is such a word, however. It is still used primarily in speech, although it can be found from time to time in edited prose. Its reputation has not risen over the years, and it is still a long way from general acceptance. Use regardless instead. Thanks, Ken |
| re: Paradigm Studio 60 vs. Vienna Acoustics Bach | Matthew W. Jun 4, 2001 9:13 PM | | There's a pretty big difference in sound between these two. The Paradigms are a bit foward and depending on the source can be a little bright. The good side is they have an instant excitement factor because you can hear every detail in the music. The bad side is they can become fatiguing after extended listening. The VA's are almost completely the opposite. They are warm and laid back sounding which gradually draw you into the music and because of this sound boring to some people. They would work better for Vocal/Jazz/Classical type music and the Paradigms would probably be better at Rock. With these two you're going to have to listen for yourself and decide which one is best for your type listening. I personally like the VA's better than Paradigm (I've owned Studio 80 v2's) but thats just me....The finish of the VA's are also a plus but get what sounds best regardless. Good Luck and happy listening! |
