Any of you super informed audio maniacs out there have a good idea for a (entry level priced) power line conditioner? I think that is going to be my next purchase for my system so I wanted some good input from y'all. Thanks!!

Entry Level. Here are 2 that you should consider. Adcom Ace 515. About $200.00 new and $100-140 used. Fairly available used. Panamax 1000. About $250.00 new and $125.00 used. Have not seen too many of these but they are out there.

You might also look ito the Trip Lite Isobar 6DBS which provides 2850 jule protection and all metal construction. Price is around 60 bucks or so if you check around.

In addtition, Monster HTS 1000 which is available for 100 bucks at globe-mart.com.

I think Antonio nicely covered the upper tier protectors.:)

WW -

My personal experience is limited to two well-known PLC's. The API Power Wedge 116 MKII and my current Shunyata Hydra. Both were not cheap, $700.00 and $2000.00 ($2500.00 soon). First the API; I did not find that it removed much of the ac grunge I was hoping, but it did provide surge suppression which was one of the main reasons it was purchased. It is now on my HT system. The Shunyata Hydra I received one month go - much, much better. While I'm still accessing exactly it's unique contribution, my critical and casual listening indicates a number of enhancements that are attibuted to it; the spooky way images are disembodied from the speaker enclosures, the stage isn't so much wider (which it is) but how it hangs it the air. Bass response is deeper but more articulate. The other thing that grabs me is the timbral accuracy - a more nautral presentation of instruments - everything just sounds more real. The first and the last observed preformance parameter reflect elements of The Absolute Sound; real instuments in a real space. While I feel that it is a remarkable product, it is not cheap. Question, what are you looking for this PLC to provide? If your looking for sonic improvment, I would be carefull about the entry-level stuff. I've heard from end-users that the best, cheapest unit is the Richard Gray's (about $700.00).
