M&K S-150THX - Any amp preference?Jeremy McGowan
Jul 22, 2001 7:15 AM
Greeting,
I am in the design phase of my home theater. I am wanting to build my system to be capable of being a true 7.1 capable system. Here is what I have decided to use so far.

Speakers = M&K S-150THX Series for LEFT CENTER RIGHT
M&K S-150THX Series for LEFT RIGHT (surround)
M&K SS-150THX Series for LEFT RIGHT (rear)
M&K MX-150THX Subwoofer

Pre Amp/Tuner = B&K Reference 30 Series II
AMP = B&K Reference 7260 (6 Channel amp)

Now my question:

With a 6 channel amp that sends 200w per channel I have the capability for the front left and right, the side left and right and the rear left and right. The sub contains its own amp so all that is left is the center? Do I have to get another amp just for the sub? What is the "perfect" set up for a system like that?

Please respond to my hotmail account at mcgowan30@hotmail.com as I won't be back on this list for a long time. Thank you in advance,
Jeremy McGowan

I meant to ask if I had to get a seperate amp for the center channel...not the sub. OOps...thanks,

Lucas uses these speakers! A friends ex-wife has a brother that I am lucky to be friends with works for Lucas. I get all the inside poop. It's cool.

As for the perfect setup, I am partial to my Carver M-500t. I am in the process of getting one amp per speaker in my theater. Right now, I have 4 for these bad boys, using the 4th for the rear (not bridged).

That's my idea.
