Need opinions on subwoofersM

What would be the best subwoofer to get for under 300 dollars or so, that is large (i.e. 12, 15 inch) and powerful. Something that you can really feel. I've looked at subs like the Audiosource SW Fifteen, the Cerwin Vega LW15, etc. Thanks for any ideas.

Your cheapest 12 incher is the sony samw-40, highly recomended, 120 watts good features , not the best for music however and maybe not powerful enough for you. From what ive heard cheap 15 inch subs tend to be really sloppy and sound like crap for music, but for movies they might be ok. If you live by a costco maybe you could check out the david d-box, 12 inch driver 300 watts , good features and good reviews for music and movies but then again maybe not enough low end 20 hz for you. Energy, paradigm, velodyne i think are out of price range for the 12" . How did the cerwin vega 15" sound? Cv's are known as loud rock speakers and might be what you want. If you have an old receiver you best long term move would be a svs subwoofer. A 20-39 cs non powered sub is $479 shipped , which you could power with an old receiver or amp(with decent power) and it would absolutely destroy anything else you could buy at that price point.

I am in the same boat you are. I have looked and looked. I finally found a Paradigm PDR-12 for around $300 which was a great steal. If you look long enough you can find quality subwoofer for cheap. Another option maybe a dahlquist 15 inch sub. Check it out on ebay. you can get one for $250 plus shipping. I dont know much about them though. Well i hope i could help
check www.paradigm.com, they have a lot of good subs (nt)Antonio Machado

thanks for the input

one problem i have is that i live in canada, and pretty much no online retailers that i have found will ship here. i've found many subs on the internet that i would like (from places like uBid, eBay and Amazon), but nobody ships to Canada. does anyone know of somebody who will? (preferably a discount retailer like amazon or something)
