| SVS 16-46PC vs. Velodyne FSR-15 which one should i go for ?? | Name (or screen name): Jul 22, 2001 8:44 PM | | I have a friend who wants to sell me his Velodyne FSR-15 for $850 same price as the SVS 16-46PC.
He treats his sub with respect & i never once seen him blasting the sub.
Both subs are great but which one is the real winner ?
The sub will be ment for mostly movies and some music.
I have my plastic sitting with me ready to order if the SVS is the winner.
Thanks guys for any help |

The 16-46PC would give it a serious run though. Look at the numbers Tom Nousaine got for the 16-46's little brother--the 20-39.(compared to his findings on the fsr15).
20hz--fsr15/95.5dB----20-39cs/91dB
25hz--fsr15/103.1dB---20-39cs/105.8dB
25-63hz avg---fsr15/109.1---20-39cs---109.5dB
Very close.
Compared to the 20-39, the 16-46 will extend lower...but it will trade off a dB or so of clean output capability >20hz to do so.
So I'm guessing the 16-46pc and the fsr15 will be VERY close in overall performance capability. Since you have the fsr15 so close, and know it's history...maybe you could offer him $750-$800 for it? He'd probably be happy he didnt have to try to box it for shipping too. Even at $850...there's very little for me to recommend one unit over the other(performance wise).

I have, or do you mean any other posters? I might be of some help regarding it's overall capabilities and it's intended use/limitations. Anyway---you could always borrow the friends sub for a weekend first, order a 16-46PC and do your own A/B comparison in your own home? Worst case is you'd be out shipping costs for the SV...not bad for a weekend of serious bass fun...:)

| SVS 16-46PC | bone Jul 24, 2001 4:59 AM | | I've heard the 20-39, a slightly smaller SVS unit. It's very clean. By that, I mean that it's has a very even frequency response. No bulges in ouptut down to very low frequencies. It actually takes a bit of getting used to. Highly recommended. Get a good amp. |
