Yamaha NS--A200XT - A question on Ohmsgladtrix
Jul 23, 2001 9:14 AM
Unlike many of the other speakers I'm considering purchasing (Klipsch & Paradigm), the Yamaha NS-A200XT 3-Way Floor Speakers are rated at 6 Ohms, instead of at 8 Ohms. What are the ramafications of this? Will this affect my decision on which receiver to purchase? Also, what is your general opinion of these speakers (compared to others in its price range)?

Cheers

6 ohm speakers will draw more current from your amplifier at a given volume level. Also look at sensitivity, which is basically how high the volume has to be turned up for a given output. It's always good to get the most quality current you can afford. A way to tell is look at an amp's output at 8 ohms and 4 ohms. The closer to doubling, the better.
