| Definitive Technology BP-2000TL/Does anyone like them? | J. Bret Jul 23, 2001 11:50 AM | | What do you all think of the Defintive Technology BP-2000TL(s)?
Have any of you ever heard them before, or even perhaps own a pair of them? What did/do you think of their overall performance?
I have heard that they are quite decent, what are your opinions? |

The bipolar sound is very different, IMO, from monopolar speakers. It ads a sense of space and depth that only a few monopolar speakers I've heard can do well. You either like this sound or you don't. I've heard $30,000 Mirage bipolars that were excellent, but again, the bipolar sound is distinct. You must audition these (or any) speakers before you buy, preferably in your own home. As far as the bass is concerned, the built-in subs are very effective, and having two of them can be a great acoustic advantage. The only disadvantage is not being able to locate the subs separately from the main speakers. Overall, their sound is pretty neutral, very open and wide, and the highs are strong and fairly detailed but not overly bright, and the mids are very uncolored. Take care setting the internal subs and the bass can be fantastic, but it's easy to set them too high, in which case you'll get a very bass-heavy sound. |
