| Tweeter domes "fingered" in | Ahmed Hafeez Jul 24, 2001 6:40 AM | | I have recently acquired a pair of demo Acoustic Research 318 PS speakers for rear in my home theatre.
Both tweeter domes have been "fingered" in. Since these are horn loaded, does it really matter? and if so, how can I bring them out? I tried pulling them out with sticky tape, but that didn't work. Any suggestions would be welcome. |

I'd return them if possible, or go the AR's site see about replacement parts. Shouldn't be too expensive. |
| Don't listen to idiots. | Dali Lama Jul 24, 2001 12:10 PM | | This is an easy fix. Get a piece of strong tape (scotch tape may not work, try duct tape) and a Q-tip. Affix the tape to the tip of the Qtip (or pencil) and lightly press it to the fingered tweeter until it sticks and pull out. It might take a few tries but you can usually get it to work after a while.
Good luck! |
| I agree. | bigwally Jul 24, 2001 1:59 PM | | But your idea might work if the indentations aren't too sharp.
I believe the original poster mentioned that he'd already tried tape. |
| I've got to start reading these posts more closely! Thanks NT | Dali Lama Jul 24, 2001 5:04 PM | | |

A side entry gives you leverage to pull the distortion out of it. Don't pull quickly, just go about pulling it back into place slowly and purposefully. You'll never restore it perfectly, but any return to it's dome shape is better than leaving it smashed in. The tiny hole left from the entry wound is negligeable, and won't effect anything.
Good Luck,
