|   My Titan II, WOW! and Thanks! | Terry
Jul 24, 2001 7:14 AM | | A couple of months ago I hung around here researching subs. I was looking for a sub that could really play music, not just make car crashes sound loud. Acoustic and electric bass lines are very important to me and I am picky about what I want! I listened to at least a dozen different subs from Velodyne, Paradigm, JBL, Infinity, etc. in stores and none sounded remotely like music. Listed to a REL Strata at a friends and it was better, but still wasn't completely tweaked by the sound, plus, I didn't want to spend $1800 if I could help it.
Well, a bunch of you were raving about the ACI Titan II. The short version is I did the research and decided to take the plunge with one of their new LE models. Holy flying cow batman am I glad I did! The people at ACI were very helpful and friendly and the beast came packaged like it was a nuke or something. Out of the box I loved the beautiful cabinet but in the first couple of days the sound was okay at best. I exchanged some Email with ACI about setup and let the thing break in. DO NOT judge this thing with less than 100 good hours on it! My REL friend was close to tears when he heard my optimized setup. Now, I am seriously wondering just how much improvement the Sapphire III might be over my B&W CDM1 SEs. If ACI can build a sub this good, I'm probably going to be giving those Sapphire IIIs a try!

Jul 24, 2001 10:54 AM | | I agree. Its an awesome sub. I like the comparison to the REL. That one and the SVS are the only others I was considering. I chose the Titan mainly because I already had the Sapphire III LE's. My only regret now is not saving the extra bit of cash for the Jaguars.
