My dream HT would cost much more than 700, did you mean 7000? I don't think any components would be Polk either. Don't get me wrong, they're fine speakers, but for a dream HT, I'd be looking for better.

Are you the same person who posted below about the RM7500 for 715? If so, that sounds like a decent deal. You might check out www.hometheaterdirect.com as well. They have packages for under 700 you might want to look into.

My suggestion: They are right you can't make a dream system on 700.00
But you can make a dream sounding system.
There are some speakers called Norh. I just bought a pair of 5.1
go to www.norh.com They are awesome. I sold my Bose 901s to get these and it was worth it. If you look up the audioreview review you will see they come up perfect. They cost 500.00 It is well spent.
I would then go to Ebay and look up audio video receivers. You can probably get a good (not great but adequate)audio/video receiver for 125.00 to 150.00
(Sony or Kenwood, people upgrade and give away good average receivers
the speakers will make them sound awesome)
Then you can go to any stereo store and buy a hifi VCR.About 75.00 to 100.00 . You are lacking a center channel speaker but you can use the TV until until you get 100.00 and then you can get a center channel. I suggest the BIC 5 series which is going on ebay for 45.00 and if you can get the 6 series they are supposed to the bomb. I am looking for them now. about 120.00 If you can get these it will sound awesome. Take my word.
I can't stress enough the Norh speakers. They are awesome and they look great. Any questions email me. Don

OK, let me re-phrase it: If i were to give you $700 to HELP ME build MY dream Home Theater?

i was looking at the Polk RM7500 for $615, but it turned out that the internet store does not include a sub.

how about the Cambridge SoundWorks MovieWorks or Ensemble series vs Klipsch Quintet vs Paradigm vs acoustic-research?

I AM AT A COMPLETE LOSS WITH ALL THESE OPTIONS. HELP!!!!

thx.

2 Paradigm Mini Monitors: $350
Paradigm CC170 Center: $200
Sony Sub $150

Buy Paradigm Atoms ($185) for surrounds later when you can afford them. Thats probably what I would do with $700.

Regards, Nick

I have owned Cambridge Soundworks Ensemble speakers, the Klipsch Quintets and some Paradigms (Titans, Mini-monitors, PDR sub) and can tell you that the CS and Klipsch speakers are not even in the same league as the Paradigms. My advice is to first listen to each set of speakers you are considering and decide for yourself what you like best. If you come to the same conclusion as me and decide Paradigms are the way to go, buy used on E-bay. On E-bay you could probably pick up the following system for around $700 - Mini Monitors ($225-250); cc170 ($120-150); PDR 10 sub ($235-260); Atoms ($120-140).

Good luck,
Dan

Since it's a dream, your best bet is to lie down comfortably, close your eyes, and in no time at all you will be listening to your dream home theater.

Of course if you want an actual home theater, with tangible components, you're going to have a tough time unless you already own most of it.
