| will my speakers rot if.......... | worried Sep 16, 2001 4:02 PM | | Hi everyone, I'm only 15 so excuse my lack of knowledge on this subject. I live in Vancouver area which is pretty wet climate if you don't already know. I have a pair of Paradigm Export monitors and to be honest I don't know what the drivers are made out of but I do know they aren't paper and the surrounds I think are butyl (spelling error?) rubber. I have to leave them stored in a friend's basement for the winter because where I'm living is only temporary and can't bring them here. Will the weather rot the speakers on me? My Dad had a pair of Bose 601's and a pair of epi 120's that suffered this bad fate. Does anyone have any expierience with this type of thing, or maybe have any advice for protecting the speakers as best as possible?
Thanks to anyone who responds I appreciate any help I can get |

Bose and EPI both use(d) foam surrounds and foam does tend to rot or otherwise degrade in extreme environments. One precaution I would take is to elevate them on something in case of basement flooding. |

Thanks for the thought |
