Speaker power?Ace H

I want to get a cheap set of speakers to use while I take my time before investing in a somewhat more expensive set. Plus the "cheap" speaks can later be relegated to the rear surrounds.
The speakers I have my eye on are rated "75 watts RMS, 150 watts max ". I have a 100 watt Yamaha receiver. Would it be safe to use these speakers with a 100 watt receiver?

it will be ok. I just hooked my 100w/ch to 50w rms spkrs. They're just fine. You just don't won't the amp to be to exceed the speakers' max rating. that's pushing a square peg in a round hole. Remember Power is just that, 'available power'. If you tried measuring it in audio electronics, you'd see a meter jumping all over the place.- about the same as an audio db meter does with music playing.

regards...
