Need new speakers under $1000!Mike '65

I am shopping for new front/main speakers. The room size is 15'x16' w/ 10' ceilings, plaster walls,& carpet. I listen to anything from Sinatra to Metallica. Mostly LOUD heavy metal. ABSOLUTELY NO COUNTRY! I have Infinity's 12" 3 ways now that are 6 yrs. old & still sound great. (I have a buyer for them.) I would like to find towers or ? to replace them with. I'm not a fan of subwoofers(it may be that I haven't heard any good ones). I would appreciate any suggestions, thanks.
Super choice for Sinatra or LOUD music...midfiman

You can find the Klipsch RP3s for under a thousand now at Tweeter. They are amazingly crisp and clean (not harsh) and have build in powered subs (i think 400 watt 10" or 12" in each) which you can opt not to use if you like. Anyways, I once saw the RP5s in one Tweeter for $1,000 which would be a steal. Each of these speakers will easily master Sinatra yet play loud enough to make you deaf...

Cheers
Paradigm Monitor 9, PSB Image 6T. Both under $1,000. ntBK

For PSB, the Stratus Bronze would be better at that price. ntLook111

I personally preferred the 6T. I thought it hit harder, deeper and tighter in the bass dept. I also thought it was a bit more forward. I thought the Bronze was much too dry sounding for my tastes. Also the Bronze is a bit harder to drive, and will need some good power to really get the most out of it, imho.

Now this is ofcourse my personal opinion, but that's exactly the point. I would listen to both on the SAME equipment, preferrably something close to what the poster will be using to drive them.

In addition to the already recommended Paradigm Monitor 9 and PSB Stratus Bronze, I would also recommend to you Swan Diva 5.1 (http://www.av123.com), PSB Stratus Mini, Totem Arro, Energy Veritas 2.2 (or 2.1, just stay away from the inferior eXL series), Definitive Technology BP10B, and B&W DM 603, so there's a small list of must-listens at your price point.

Try the Axiom M60Ti for around $800. I've heard them while auditioning their sub and they are really sweet!!!
