| PSB vs NHT ? | Steven H Nov 28, 2001 12:59 AM | | Hey all,
Anyone get to compair the PSB Image 2B speakers against the NHT Super1 or the 1.5 ? There is not a PSB dealer near my area, so I was wondering what the general consensus was between the two.
Thanks,

Actually, if you're looking at these speakers, check out ascendacoustics.com, their monitors are suppose to be the hottest things out as well as the Diva line bookshelves at av123.com

| NHT for me | gc Nov 28, 2001 9:28 PM | | I compared the Image 1C to the SuperOne and bought 4 of the NHTs. Not that PSB sounded bad, but it did seem a little "colored" while NHT lived up to its reputation of delivering clear and precise music. Plus they were cheaper. You have to actually listen to speakers before you buy, though. You might like the way PSB sounds. |

I have since added a 220 w/ch Parasound 2205 power amp, and relegated the Yamaha receiver to pre/pro status. The NHT's sound absolutely great with the better amplification.
Before you dismiss the 1.5's make sure that you hear them powered by the amp/receiver that you intend to use. It may be that you like them in that arrangement, or perhaps you will find that you prefer the PSB's matched to your other equipment.
I will also add that I have a set of NHT SuperZero's in an inexpensive 60 w/ch receiver setup, along with a small passive sub. It is my observation that the SuperZero and SuperOne (Same speaker - larger woofer) matches better to mid price receivers than does the NHT 1.5. You may want to give the SuperOnes a try with your setup, also.
Hope this helps! |
