JBL PB10 problemmatthew
Nov 30, 2001 11:44 PM
I just bought a JBL PB10 today, but when I hooked it up to my reciever I am getting hardly any sound out of it. I have to turn it all the way to hear anything. I have an older Onkyo A-SV620 reciever with Dolby Pro Logic. I don't believe there is a seperate level control for the sub. At least the manual doesn't say anything about it. Anyone have any idea what the problem is? Is it the fact that my reciever is about 4 or 5 years old? This is really annoying the hell out of me, cause I spent $177 (after employee discount) at Best Buy on the sub. Any suggestions would be welcome. Thanks.

Matt

...and I'm sure you do, it was meant to run the sub. Im not familiar with Onkyo, but most receivers have similar menus. Look for the menu that lets you set speakers from large to small and chances are you will find an entry that gives you subwoofer choices such as sw, sub, or none. If yours is set to none, set it to one of the others. While you're at it set the mains, rears and centers to small (best in most cases. If this doesnt work. Hook the sub up to the front main outputs of the receiver and run the fronts from the outputs on the rear of the sub. That will tell you if there is a sub problem since you know your front main outputs are "live".

I know the sub works. I hooked it up to a floormates reciever and the thing was awesome. He even offered to buy it off of me if I can't get it to work. So yeah the sub definiately does work, so I guess I have a challenge to anyone who calls themselves a hometheater expert. Where are the menus for an Onkyo A-SV620? The manual doesn't say anything about them.

.....meaning it has outputs for fronts, rear, center and sub, I have to believe it has a menu. There should be buttons on the receiverand in most cases the remote too, for setup or menu. Those are the ones to tweak
