thinking about PSB 4t or 5ts... any other suggestions...hudsonfowler

I just heard a friends psb 4t setup and have decided to upgrade. I'm running an Onkyo TX-8511 with 100 watts x 2ch. Can anyone suggest comprable speakers in the same price range I might want to consider (around $500)?
Thanks

No other suggestions. But, I will confirm that PSB makes great speakers, especially at their price. I own a pair of PSB Image 5Ts, a 9C, and a pair of 2Bs. I am about to add a SubSonic 6. Although they took a couple of weeks to break in, the sound is amazing. So, although you should think about others, you definitely won't be sorry if you go with PSB. If you have any specific questions, please feel free to ask.

Did you listen to the 4ts as well as the 5ts? Not having much experience with higher end speakers, I was blown away with 4ts at my friends house. He is running an Onkyo reciever with less power than my 100x2 so I thought I could power the 5ts properly. How much power are you running? Can you suggest a good place to purchase them? How much should I pay. Thanks in advance.

here is a link for a good deal on the 5t's. I have dealt with this company before and have had no problems.

First, the pair of 5 t's I heard was outstanding for the money.
Second,if you have a few minutes,go to Magnepan's web site. Their home page will direct you to an offer of a pair of their speakers for $550.
Magnepan speakers are (what's the word?)--eccentic. Some people love em;some people hate'em. For that reason,.I would not order them without hearing them first. If a friend or local store has some to listen to, give them a try if you're there anyway.
Happy speaker hunting.

New for $1,100 they will beat PSB 4. In the current issue of TAS magazine has a test of the PSB 4 and its not high-end and the Snell bookshelf speakers tested with it IS rated high-end. You would be better off with used Snell speakers. They sell cheap because people like you and your friends dont know about them. jmo
