I'm building a new system. I've bought the components (still waiting on the receiver & DVD to arrive), picked out my component cables (Acoustic Research, about $100 total), but now I need some recommendations on some good wire. My speaker set is the Energy Encore, and I'm planning on wiring the satellites through the walls. I'll also need a sub cable & center. Monster seems great, but with a huge price tag. I'm looking for comparable with a better price tag. What brands should I explore? TIA...

Many people here will tell you, go to Home Depot and buy speaker wire by the foot. It's comparable to monster, but a fraction of the price. Speaker wire, in my opinion, is one of those items that has a very quickly downward sloping marginal benefit curve! Buy something good, but be smart too!

I would recomend the SoundKing 12Awg 99.99% OFC over the Home Depot
variety. The SoundKing can be had from <a href="www.partsexpress.com">Parts Express</a>

For a mere $30.00 per 100' and it is a great quality cable. It's what
I use for all of my speakers (except for my surrounds) The only reason
I didn't use it for my Surrounds is that I wanted a white wire that
would blend in with the walls.
I like SoundKing because it's very flexible!Viperoni

I'm guessing SoundKing is on the net, so I think I'll give them a lookover. Thanks again...
