What speakers for system - Marantz SR7200lonkelm
Jan 18, 2002 9:28 AM
I'm putting together a new system. I plan to purchase a set of floor standing speakers to drive in my living room for music (now where I will set up the HT).
I would like to spend $500 or less. I see the ARS40's are selling pretty cheap. I want a speaker that are towers like the AR S40. What suggestions does this group have regarding the AR S40 and other ideas. I won't have any other amps or anything, just direct off the SR7200 unit.

You can reply or email me.

thanx
A better suggestion (IMO of course)midfiman

IMO, spend a little bit more (about $550-$600) and get the Klipsch
RF-3s. In my opinion, there isn't another loudspeaker that comes close to it in this price range, and i've heard alot too!

the klipsch are great if you've lost your hearing already. :) I prefer a smoother sound. Hey you might check out the acoustic energy aego 2, or aperion audio 512D, or axiom M3ti, tannoy mx2.

Thanks for the responses. I gather the ARS20s are really not all that good.

I just went to Tweeters and listened to KLIPSCH SF1B and SF2B
and Boston Acoustics VR950 and VR940. They sounded pretty good.
IF I was willing to spend around $700 what do people have to suggest.

I've heard the Phasetech Teatro 7.5 VDTs are pretty good. How do they sound relative to BA?
