MartinLogan Odyssey paired with Yamaha RXV1KMyers
Jan 19, 2002 5:11 PM
Hi, I'm new here and looking for advice. My husband and I are upgrading our h/t, and we've agreed on the martin logan odyssey speakers.

My question is, he's a diehard Yamaha man and wants the RXV1 receiver. Would this be a decent match? I'm more interested in Sunfire, but he just won't look seriously at anything else.

Want to keep him happy, but want a good match as well.

Sure the RX-V1 is a very fine amp...surely enough to push your new speakers.

I guess your question relates more to taste....my thoughts are stick to what you like. There are tons of systems to be had, but taking a top line Yamaha A/V reciever is a good choice...I do not think either of you will be disappointed.

I have a few friends with the same Rx-V1 and pushing B&W series 600, and 800 series speakers....I absolutely love the sound produced.

I personally own the B&W 601 Series and DM 302(rears) witha Yamaha RX-V620....love the sound...lots of power...but I'd die for a RX-V1.

Hope all the ranting helps.

I work for an AV retailer down here in New Orleans, LA. We sell Martin Logan loudspeakers. I am also about to purchase a pair of Odysseys. From all of our experiences, the B&K AVR-307 is a great AV receiver, and is especially well matched for the Odysseys.

Have fun with em'!

Marriage is about compromise No? By a lower level Yamaha with the same kind of features...and buy a dedicated Power amp from say Sunfire for 2 channel listening...then you're both happy...and it will be an improvement over the V1.
