| Bi-amping dilemma - need help | mdavis69 Mar 29, 2002 6:22 AM | | Ok, here's the background. I am finishing up making my new speaker cables (the DIY cat5 project - 10ga to the woofer, 15ga to the panel) and I am ready to bi-amp my Martin-Logan ReQuests. My two amps are a Krell KAV-250a (250W@8/500W@4/channel) and a Chiro C200 (140W@8/280W@4/channel). My dilemma is which amp should I use for which part of the speaker? Do I use the higher powered Krell on the woofers since they will need use about twice as much power as the panels? Or do I use higher quality Krell on the panels since more of the audio range will be produced there? BTW, I do like my Chiro and I am not trying to say it sucks at all. My gut feeling says use the Krell on the panels since the Chiro should still be plenty of oomph for the woofers. Opinions?? |
