|   Can someone please help me get some ideas for some speakers? | The not so new guy
Mar 29, 2002 5:46 PM | | I'm about to finish my Cerwin Vega setup powered by an Onkyo 595 and using a Tempest subwoofer powered by an Hypex 500. But I also want a system that would be good for Sound Quality. So I'm thinking of about rebuilding a Fisher X-100 I got from a family member. When I got the Fisher it came with some good Magnavox speakers but when the integrated Fisher amp went so did one of the speakers. So can anyone suggest some good speakers for about $500 to about $625 each? These speakers will be used for sound quality only. If I want to wake up my neighbors I will use my Cerwin Vega's. I really need some help here, I don't even know what speaker brands to look at because I'm use to dealing with speakers built by companies like Cerwin Vega and JBL.

Mar 30, 2002 11:03 AM | | I would look into some Klipsch speakers especially the vintage Cornwalls. I have seem them on ebay and even locally for about $800/pr. Also the newer Klipsch Legend series KLF-10, KLF-20 or KLF-30 may still be around. These are a horn loaded high efficiency modern design with Vintage drivers and build quality. |

Apr 1, 2002 9:19 AM | | If you're willing to take a chance, the nOrh SM 6.9s should be right up your alley. Perhaps some Dynaudios or ACI Sapphires will work. If your willing to build the cabinets, check out the DIY ACI Jaguar. B&W and Paradigm make excellent speakers. Could look at the Shamrock Audio Eileen or something from AV Reality. But if you can get something that uses Scanspeak drivers and tweeters that would be best, as they are supposed to be very revealing. Just my opinion. |
