| Heavy stands and carpet spikes...what's the point? | tsmith Apr 4, 2002 3:18 PM | | Everywhere I turn I hear about high mass stands, coupling speakers to stands (via blu-tack or other means), and carpet spikes. What's the point behind these?
The only reason I can come up with is maybe to help eliminate resonance in a speaker, but does this really do the trick? Maybe coupling speakers to stands and then stands to floor (via spikes) is the best way to do this, but I'm only guessing.
Anyone else know why this is done?
Thanks,
