Has anyone out there had a listen to Krix speakers. Read a few reports on the KDX M series and the Lyrix Gold series. Just wondering how they both rate. So far been looking at Paradigm Studio 40's.

I own Krix Lyrix and will be shorlty purchasing KDX's for rears and the centrix center...although Ive been "going" to purchase for a while now...

In Australia, I have heard nothing better for the dollar than Krix, bar nothing. However, overseas they are twice the price...bringing with it far more competition.

IMO, they are better than paradigm as they are a much warmer, natural sounding speaker. I would say Krix are better, however they are speakers of a similar calibre, its just that the Krix are more to my tastes...

In 1992 I heard Krix's at a stereo shop right outside the main gate at an Australian Air Force Base in Darwin. The proprietor, a nice guy named Ian, invited me to come back after he closed. Well I did. I bought the pizza also. What I got treated to was a taste of those little Krix's. Tiny boxes, each with two 4" woofers in a D'Appollito configuration. He was driving them with a 200wpc "MA" power amp. I was looking for the sub-woofer, but there was none. Those little boxes were capable of some awesome low end performance. he had some of those big, floorstanding Duntech's in that room, but they weren't nearly as much fun to listen to. I could've purchased those little guys for about $400 U.S. dollars. Didn't do it.

Last weekend I auditioned the Krix Equinox bookshelf speakers. They are a very good sounding speaker $775/pair and put out a lot of bass for a speaker their size. The shop where I auditioned them in Franklin Park, NJ had them next to Energy Veritas bookshelfs ($1000 / pair)which were also very nice. The mid range on both speakers was very good. The Energys had a smoother / less bright tweeter but the Krixes were way ahead in the bass dept.

On may way out the shop owner turned on the Krix floorstanders which were simply awesome. (I think they were about $1200- 1500 per pair.)
