| Wiring speakers in series? How? | LordElrond Jul 24, 2002 3:57 AM | | Hello,
I just recieved an email from Kenwood that said my vr-2080 reciever can handle 6-16ohm loads. I asked them if was o.k. to hook up 4 8ohm 100 watt speakers to the rear channels( 2 are dipolar and 2 are direct). He said It was o.k. as long as they are in series. ( NOT parrell ) How do I go about hooking this up?
Thanks.

Then connect the other end of that wire to the hot (red) side of your first speaker.
Connect another wire to the ground (black) side of that speaker.
Then connect the other end of that wire to the hot side of the second speaker.
Finally, connect another wire to the ground side of the second speaker and then connect the other end of that wire to the ground (black) side of the left speaker connection on your amp.
DO THE SAME for the right channel.

When you are finished you will have a loop consisting of 3 wires with two speakers in between. Most wires comes in pairs of two (for hot and ground), but you will only need one side of that for your runs.
Hope this helps... |

Thanks Steven,
I've hooked it up like you said and the speakers all work great. It really adds more to the surround field.
