| Brand new owner of a denon 4802, Speaker suggestions? | WetWorks Jul 24, 2002 2:18 PM | | I started with the reciever, now with the speakers.. I dont really want to sell my soul for the top of the line speakers.. A co-worker tells me I should really invest on the center speaker, which I think its valid..
My budget is about a 1K, actually I dont know my budget is.. I just need help, hehehe..

Then add a subwoofer later, possibly from SVS or Paradigm or Energy. B&W makes good subwoofers but they are a bit overpriced...the speakers however are to me the best available for pulling double duty(movies and music). http://www.bwspeakers.com/products/review/review.cfm?range=MODEL%20DM601%20S3

If you like bright, then look at the Axiom line of speakers - these can be ordered factory direct with slight cabinet blemishes for a really good price. These are rear ported and cannot be easily concealed as they hate being near walls. www.axiomaudio.com
On the bright vein, also look at Paradigm's monitor series.
If you like laid back, look at Wharfedale - the Diamond 8 series; also good value. These are front ported, so can be concealed in furniture, etc. www.iagamerica.com
Mission speakers can also be laid back, but the build quality is awful.
One other choice that may surprise you is the new line of "audiophile" speakers from Pioneer - they are great for home theater. They are rear ported.. They are not bright either.
Between you and me, being a Denon man myself, you will do better with laid back speakers, such as the Wharfedales or the Pioneers. |
