B&W 804N Connection Questionkel7
Jul 24, 2002 3:03 PM
My dealers B&W 804N's have bananna plugs hooked directly into the back of the posts (as opposed to the hole in the side of the post). I want to hook mine up this way but my posts dont have holes in the back--there seems to be some type of plug and I cannot figure out how to get it out. its pretty sad that my dealer couldnt tell me--anyone offer me any help?

it should be the same type of plug as on my cdm7nt's, you just have to grab and pull. It may be easier if you take the nuts all of the way off, they should be sticking out farther this way.

Thanks for the reply. The whole post is surrounded w/ hard plastic (very well built) but I swear I cant get it to budge--very frustrating. Are you saying that the plastic part pulls off the post?

I don't own 804's, but I had the same issue with my B&W's. If you insert a small thin object (nail, pen cap, even the banana plug itself) into the side of the post, you should be able to push out the plastic plug just enough to get pilers (or your fingers) around it from the back of the post. I believe B&W does this to discourage the use of banana plugs in Europe... I could be wrong though.

Thanks! I got them out. Why would they discourage bananna plugs in Europe?

It's not to discourage banana plugs, but in Europe aparently they don't use them, so the plugs are there to fill the hole. I had a devil of a time getting them out of my N802s, though they came out easily on my N804s and CDM-7NTs.
