Testing for blown driversfranciswong

Hey there
I recently posted about my B&W CC6 which I bought second hand. Both drivers make a scraping noise if I push them in unevenly, but if I push them in evenly the scraping noise dissapears. Sonically they sound alright, but I've never had a centre speaker before.
I was wondering if there were any ways of testing the speakers to check for blown drivers? Any sounds I should listen out for?

Thanks for your help,
Regards,
Francis

When you push on a speaker unevenly and get a scraping noise, it is probably caused by you pushing the voice coil assembly against the pole piece. See:

(The voice coil fits around the pole piece.)

Stop pushing on it, or you may damage it.

You state:

] Sonically they sound alright...

If that is the case, then they are fine.

Thanks for that, in that case I'm pretty please with my buy. I guess since they're smaller drivers it's a lot easier to scrape against the pole piece.

Cheers,
Francis
