| my humble take on bi-wiring | GM Jul 24, 2002 8:07 PM | | o.k. here's the setup. i've owned my speakers for 2+ years with running a single set of wires w/the factory jumper. When i moved into my house in October I prewired my front and center for bi-wiring. Since, i've had 8-9 months with the single wires so I decided to add the second set of wires to determine if there is a difference. So last weekend I decided to connect the bi-wires to my front (powered) speakers as well as my center (ran the high and low wires to the same receiver connection).
Did i hear a difference during CD playback? No. Did i hear a difference during DVD playback? No. BUT running my Directv through an optical cable into my Denon I hear quite a difference. The signal is not digital like HBO, but the common Directv signal. Using the Direct or Stereo modes I would bet $ the center channel is playing...now that doesn't sound like much, but it seems the imagining has definitely improved. I've even jumped out of my chair a few times to prove (to myself) the center speaker is not active. Has anyone else experienced similar results? If you have the extra wire and its possible, try it...you may notice a difference as i did. |
