| Has anyone ever heard of Design Acoustic's Ps series? | Raisinlove Jul 24, 2002 11:32 PM | | I can't find much on this company so I'm looking at experienced audiophiles for any detail. Are they of good quality etc? I'm looking to add them as back speakers in my set and I need some info... |

But to be honest i don't know about the new line up. bob d |

I have the PS-6, a bookshelf from the 80's. I haven't listened to them in about 10 years, but I just resurected them over the weekend and dusted them off. I haven't given them a serious listen so I can't comment on the sound, but they seem well-built. From what I remember, I was very happy with them when I got them.
I considered using them for rear surrounds myself, but decided to go with rears from the same family as my mains. |
| Design Acoustic's Ps series | planetpatrol Jul 25, 2002 10:55 AM | | I bought some PS55 speakers on ebay for $9! I took the ps55 speakers (5 in woofer and 1 in tweeter) apart and found that both drivers were made in china and were of the stamped basket variety (nothing to be ashamed of necessarily at the budget price range). The cabinet is made of 1/2 MDF and is very solid and has a respectable vinyl veneer. The cabinet also contains some polyfill which means the company seems to have had sound quality somewhere in the back of their minds. The crossover is extremely simple but looks a cut above what you would find in generic speakers. The sound is decent but nothing to sell the farm over. I would dare to compare them to the older version of the paradigm atoms in terms of build quality and overall sound. |
