Hooking unlike speakers into series and 7.1 surround:RUSSIA
Jul 30, 2002 4:59 PM
...Can I hook up 2 different speakers into series? I am planning to put these speakers as surrounds (a pseudo 7.1 channel dealie). My receiver states that it can handle high resistance up to 16 Ohms. Both speakers are 8 Ohms. However, I have read that it is "dangerous" to hook up unlike speakers in series. If I hooked alike speakers in series for the surrounds (having 4 speakers for surround), would this create a true 7.1 atmosphere? On the other hand, is it pointless to try such a thing because there may be more problems created in the surround atmosphere (accentuation/cancellation of frequecies)? Thanks for any posts in reply in advance!
