| What fronts to buy that will match my Klipsch KV-1 center? | bgilly Dec 5, 2002 1:18 PM | | I am getting a Panasonic SA-HE70K receiver within the next couple weeks along with a used Klipsch KV-1 center channel. I will be using some cheapo KLH bookshelf speakers ($50 from Fry's) as the fronts for now, and they will be used as rears when I get better fronts. From some reviews I've read people have said the KV-1 matches a lot of different speakers fairly well, so hopefully that will help me in my quest for a pair of inexpensive front channel speakers.
So, lets say under $200-300 for a pair, what do you think would work well. I don't care whether they are bookshelf or floor-standing, I will make whatever I get work. Keep in my mind this is for my bedroom, but I still would like something to keep for years to come if this setup ever gets put in the living room.
TIA!!!
PS. I am searching audiogon's classifieds almost daily for some good used stuff. :) :) |
| In that price range | Jim Clark Dec 7, 2002 10:20 AM | | We are somewhat limited, even for used. Still there are some great options. I'd seriously recomend looking for:
in no order other than numerical
KG 3.2
KG 4.2
KG 3.5
KG 4.5
5.2 and 5.5 (i'm assuming there is a 5.5 but I've never heard it) would almost certainly be out of your price range. Even then, I don't care for the rear facing passive subs on the 5.2's although I have a friend that loves them. the 4's are going to be tough to find in that range in good shape but I think would be worth it, especially if your going to be running without a sub for while.
Other vingtage Klipsch models will almost certainly be way out of the given price range and the models I've listed will be a good match.
