"Jimmy C" has commmented a couple of times in this forum about his Dayton BR-1 speakers. They come only in kit form. Here's one of his posts:

Jimmy C "Which bookshelf speakers would you recommend for about $150?" 12/6/02 4:07pm

These look to be a great speaker for those on a low budget if they sound anything like the claims that are made. They can be purchased from me for just $82.50 each, not including shipping.

I am interested in hearing these, but I've already got speakers and don't need more. So I'm offering a service here that may be of some value to someone reading this. I will assemble these speakers for free for anyone willing to cover my costs, which are the purchase, shipment to me, shipment to you and eBay fees. I may not even recoup my costs, as I have estimated shipping, which could run higher.

I listed this proposal on eBay. You can get more information about it there. Its value is basically for someone with no skills in assembling a kit like this and wanting a decent set of speakers for very little dinero. There's nothing in it for me, except the chance to check these puppies out. The auction link is: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=14991&item=1944345001. Of course, I cannot guarantee that these speakers will meet up to their billing. I will only guarantee a quality assembly job.
Interesting proposal!Jimmy C

The kit retails for $139, it arrived at my front door at a total of $160. Not sure if it was tax/shipping/both.

I bought them simply to have a little fun, not expecting much. They toppled my Titans for bedroom duty in a hurry. You won't be disappointed! They do like a 'lil juice... company recommends 75 horsepower per channel. I'm sure they would be fine (if not their best) with less.

Keep us posted!

I saw your posting abotu you assembling the Dayton kit. Would you be willing to assemble a pair of the Ed Frias AR speaker sit that is so famous if I shipped you the parts and all that is needed and paid for shipping it bak to me completed?

I will not actually need them for 10-12 months or so, so I was just wondering as I found out that speakercity.com sells them prebuilt for $330 but Ed told me that they use an inferior crossover compared to the one he recommends from Madisound.

Thanks alot for any help you can offer.

Jason

I'm not familiar with the AR kit. As long as it involves just assembly, I'm fine. If there is finishing or assembly of the cabinets required, I would say no, as I don't have the necessary woodworking equipment or skills to do a top-notch job in that department.
