|  re: 6 ohms | Ray from RI Dec 9, 2002 7:30 PM | | Most half-decent receivers can handle 6ohm, or even 4ohm loads. You shouldn't have to worry unless the speakers draw too much current. In that case most receivers will go into "protection mode", i.e. shutting down, before any damage is done.

The Harman/Kardon receiver manual has nothing to say about speaker impedance but the back panel has "8 ohms" stamped on the area above the speaker terminals. That made me wonder. But there have been no ill effects, the amp doesn't run hot and has never shut down. I don't think you should have any problems with 6-ohm speakers. Keep in mind that this is a "nominal" rating. Impedance varies with frequency.
