New Dad needs help....Toddlers & Speakers (x-post)The Squeaky Wheel
Dec 11, 2002 7:49 AM
I'm in the process of upgrading my system to surround sound and have a logistical dilemma. As you other parents know, toddlers have a way of playing with anything they can get their hands on.

I'm having trouble deciding how to arrange the rear speakers. I'm buying small speakers for the rear, either the KEF coda70 or paradigm titan. One speaker will be in the corner away from curious hands. Unfortunately, the other corner is exposed and it will be tempting for my baby girl to stay away from such a shiny new "toy." My 4 year old is good enough not to play with Daddy's things.

I can mount them on the wall/ceiling with brackets, but all the brackets I've seen are bulky & the wife will flip if not aesthetically pleasing.
I'm weary of stands because of the instability. One thought I had is to screw the speaker to the stand, then place a small eyelet into the wall. I could then wrap a zip-toe from the speaker stand to the eyelet for support. Thus the speaker is stabilized by the stand & the stand is attached to the wall. Not great, but the best I can come up with.

Anybody have any creative suggestions for a puzzled Dad?

Thanks in advance.
