please help, sub questions...muzicman20003

Im looking to buy a sub(obviously) I have it narrow down to the hsu vtf-2 or the jbl s120pII, they are both approximatly the same price. Ive read lots of things about both of them. Im not sure that the jbl will provide me with low enough frequencies to meet my musical and ht demands, but its does play extremely loud at higher frequencys, and I have a problem beleiving that the hsu with a 10" sub and 150 watt amplifier could possibly pound my chest if i really want it to.(theres a little bit of a basshead in me) plus it is not really economical to "test drive" the hsu being that its a mail order company. any comment or suggestion?? thanks

From what I have heard, the HSU will be a much better sub. Get the HSU. Having heard their TN series subs, I doubt you'll be dissapointed with the VTF-2. Don't pay attention to the fact that the amp on the HSU is 150 watts. It's misleading!

I totally agree with midfiman. Before the VTF-2, I had a Infinity BU-120 12" sub with also 150W, I believe. The VTF-2 will play at least 10Hz further down for the same output, i.e. 28Hz vs 38Hz. And JBL and Infinity are both part of the Harman family.

I had a BU-150, thinking, wow, 15" powered sub for only $300 bucks. What a piece of crap. It was great when it actually worked. But of course, that wasn't very long.

I had it serviced three times (and Infinity blows when it comes to getting parts, like 6+ weeks), and finally I gave up and demanded a replacement.

The replacement IL series subs are a Million times better in sound and reliability!

I have a vtf2, and believe me, as long as you don't have a huge room, you won't have any problem getting that "pound" in your chest. It goes clean, deep and loud. Nothing I heard in the price range was better. It sucks that most people don't get to hear the HSU unless they buy it, which is, rightfully so, a turnoff.

Great sub why so cheap? thread

It might give the the HSU some competion for the price difference.
