Fuse blowing repeatedlyjcomm

I've got a Velodyne CT-80 subwoofer which has recently gone out of two-year warranty. No power when I turn it on. Opened it up and the fuse is blown. I replace the fuse. Power on. Fuse blows. So... anyone have any idea why the fuse would blow when I power up?

Thanks in advance,

Joel

Disconnect the inputs, replace the fuse & turn it on. If the fuse goes again, you have a shorted driver or a sub-amp problem. Disconnect the driver from its amp & connect a DMM across the pair(s) of speaker voice coil terminals & see if you get the rated voice coil(s) resistance, say 4 or 8 ohms. If the speaker voice coil(s) is(are) OK, then it is your amp.

I've been there man. I have the CT-120 and it kept blowing fuses immediately after i turned it on. Unfortunately it meant that the amp had completely blown. So i took it to get repaired, which will cost you around $225, and after one repair followed by another amp death, we found out there is some weird defect in those models that makes the amp blow. After having that fixed the problem hasn't come back. Good luck.
